Peacock has officially renewed The ’Burbs, the mystery-comedy led by Keke Palmer, for a second season following a strong first run.
Season 1 premiered in February with all eight episodes dropping at once after a major Super Bowl push. The strategy paid off: the show delivered Peacock’s biggest opening day for an original series, racked up over 1.7 billion minutes viewed, and landed in Nielsen’s U.S. Originals Top 10 for four straight weeks, peaking at No. 2.
“We’re so thrilled that audiences loved Season 1 of The Burbs, and are going to get to spend more time in Hinkley Hills with Keke and the rest of this incredible cast,” said Lisa Katz, president of scripted content for NBC and Peacock. “A huge congratulations to all of the writers, producers and crew who updated the beloved original film and made something funny, warm and highly contemporary.”
The series, inspired by the 1989 film, follows Samira (Palmer) and her husband Rob (Jack Whitehall) as they settle into suburban life—only to find themselves pulled into a dark mystery involving their seemingly perfect neighborhood. What begins as curiosity about the house across the street quickly spirals into something far more dangerous, exposing buried secrets and unsettling truths.
Created by Celeste Hughey, the show also features Julia Duffy, Paula Pell, Mark Proksch, and Kapil Talwalkar as eccentric neighbors caught up in the intrigue. Hughey celebrated the renewal on social media, writing, “Moving back home,” hinting at more suburban secrets to come.
