The final trailer for DC Studios’ upcoming film Supergirl features a notable appearance by David Corenswet as Superman. Released by DC Studios co-chairman James Gunn, the promotional footage establishes a distinct dynamic between the titular heroine, played by Milly Alcock, and her iconic cousin.
While Corenswet’s role was initially expected to be limited, recent promotional ,aterial has hinted that Superman may have a larger presence in the story than previously assumed. His appearance continues the connection between Supergirl and the new DC film universe launched with 2025’s Superman.
In the trailer, Corenswet’s Superman arrives to offer guidance and a new superhero suit to Alcock’s Kara Zor-El. Director Craig Gillespie noted that the film explores the contrast between the two characters’ upbringings and approaches to their abilities. While Clark Kent was raised in a stable environment, Kara experienced the trauma of Krypton’s destruction before arriving on Earth. This variance creates a complex relationship between the relatives, highlighting their differing philosophies on heroism. In the footage, Kara highlights this divide, stating, “He perceives the good in everyone while I recognize the reality.”
Directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, Supergirl is based on the acclaimed Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic series by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. The cast also includes Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham and Jason Momoa as Lobo
