Apple TV+ has ordered a new thriller series, “Guilty Creatures,” with Emmy Award-winning actress Julia Garner attached to star and serve as an executive producer.
‘Guilty Creatures’ is based on Mikita Brottman’s nonfiction book, “Guilty Creatures: Sex, God, and Murder in Tallahassee, Florida,” and marks another high-profile television role for Garner following acclaimed performances in “Ozark” and other recent projects. The series will stream on Apple TV+ and is being produced by Tomorrow Studios.
According to the official synopsis, the series explores the psychological aftermath of a passionate relationship between two young, adulterous but deeply religious lovers whose romance leads to murder. The story follows the emotional and moral consequences they face while concealing their crimes for nearly two decades, unfolding against the backdrop of Florida’s Panhandle. The drama draws from Brottman’s examination of a real-life case that blends themes of faith, obsession, deception and violence.
The adaptation will be directed and executive produced by Craig Gillespie, whose credits include “I, Tonya,” “Pam & Tommy” and “Your Friends & Neighbors.” Stuart Zicherman will serve as showrunner and executive producer, while Sarah DeLappe is adapting the book for television. Brottman is also among the executive producers on the project, which was developed through first-look agreements involving Garner’s Alma Margo banner and Gillespie’s Fortunate Jack Productions.
