The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced that Jay-Z will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show on Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The 25-time Grammy Award winner will perform during the championship game, which is scheduled to air on ESPN, ABC and Disney+, with mobile streaming available through NFL+.

The reveal marks the first time Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, will headline a Super Bowl halftime performance. The rapper also serves as a key figure behind the event through Roc Nation, which has partnered with the NFL since 2019 to help produce the halftime show and advise on the league’s live music entertainment.

“From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey. Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true,” Jay-Z said in a statement, referencing the 30th anniversary of his 1996 debut album, “Reasonable Doubt.”

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement: “When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him. I couldn’t be more excited for fans around the world to experience the artistry, creativity and cultural impact he will bring to the Super Bowl stage.”

Jay-Z has been busy on stage this year, celebrating the anniversaries of “Reasonable Doubt” and his 2001 album “The Blueprint.” Jay-Z recently concluded his “JAŸ-Z30” concert run with performances at SoFi Stadium, following shows at Yankee Stadium in New York and stops in Europe. His recent concerts featured guest appearances from artists including Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, John Legend and DJ Khaled.

The choice of Jay-Z places one of hip-hop’s most influential figures at the center of the NFL’s biggest annual entertainment event. Although the league has not announced additional performers, speculation about potential guest appearances is likely to follow, particularly given the rapper’s musical collaborations and his wife Beyoncé’s history with the Super Bowl halftime stage.
