Sphere Entertainment has announced plans to transform the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show into its next large-scale immersive attraction, with the production scheduled to debut at the Las Vegas venue in 2027. The project will be developed by Sphere Studios in partnership with Primary Wave Music and 20th Century Studios, using the venue’s advanced visual and audio technology to reimagine the 1975 musical film for Sphere’s massive wraparound screen.

The project, titled “The Rocky Horror Picture Show at Sphere,” will be created by Sphere Studios in partnership with Primary Wave Music and 20th Century Studios. Using the venue’s wraparound screen and proprietary technology, the production will reimagine the 1975 musical film starring Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick while preserving the spirit that helped turn the movie into one of cinema’s most enduring audience-participation phenomena.

Sphere Entertainment Executive Chairman and CEO Jim Dolan said, “Through Sphere Studios, we are building a slate of original experiences that push the boundaries of technology and storytelling for this new medium, while always keeping the audience at the center of the experience.” He added, “Since The Rocky Horror Picture Show premiered in 1975, it redefined audience participation and became a cultural phenomenon. With Sphere, we have the opportunity to take that spirit of immersion to an entirely new level.”

The new production will become part of The Sphere Experience portfolio, joining “Postcard from Earth” and the recently launched “The Wizard of Oz at Sphere,” which adapted the classic film for the venue’s expansive visual and sensory capabilities. The company has not yet announced an opening date or ticket details.

Originally released in 1975, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” evolved from a modest box office performer into a midnight movie institution with generations of devoted fans, elaborate costumes and interactive traditions. Sphere’s adaptation marks the latest effort to bring the film to new audiences while capitalizing on the venue’s emphasis on technologically enhanced storytelling.
