Apple TV has officially renewed “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” for a second season, following strong reviews and growing audience interest.

Inspired by Rufi Thorpe’s bestselling novel, the comedy-drama was created by David E. Kelley and stars Elle Fanning in the lead role. Fanning plays Margo, a struggling college dropout and new mother who turns to OnlyFans as a way to support herself and her child while dealing with financial pressure and an uncertain future.

The series also features Michelle Pfeiffer and Nick Offerman as Margo’s unconventional parents — a former Hooters waitress and retired professional wrestler — alongside Nicole Kidman, Thaddea Graham, Marcia Gay Harden, Greg Kinnear, Michael Angarano, Rico Nasty and Lindsey Normington.

“Embarking on the adventure of bringing Margo to the screen has been one of the greatest joys of my life,” Fanning said in a statement. “When I first read Rufi’s stunning story, it felt wholly original and most importantly human, and then with David’s writing, along with our epic cast of heart-wrenching performances, it truly felt like we had something special. Having the opportunity to bring more of Margo’s troubles, creativity, fearless spirit and authenticity to audiences with a second season, makes me incredibly happy and excited. I can promise everyone they’re in for a wild, messy, and beautiful ride.”

Apple also confirmed that writer and executive producer Eva Anderson will serve as co-showrunner with Kelley for the upcoming season.  Kelley also praised the project’s success, saying he was immediately drawn to Thorpe’s unique characters and world, adding that he looks forward to continuing the story with Apple and A24.

The series is executive produced by Kelley, Elle and Dakota Fanning, Nicole Kidman, Matthew Tinker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Anderson and Thorpe, among others. Direction duties have been handled by Dearbhla Walsh, Kate Herron and Alice Seabright.
