After a nearly three-year hiatus, American Horror Story is set to return this fall, with FX announcing that the anthology’s 13th season will premiere Sept. 24 on FX and stream the following day on Hulu. The new installment marks the latest chapter in Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s long-running horror franchise, which last aired a season in 2023.
The new season has been described by cast members as a celebration of the anthology’s legacy, with Evan Peters previously characterizing it as a “greatest-hits season.” An official synopsis of the season describes it as “an unrivaled 13th installment that will do justice to everyone’s most feared number. Bringing together an all-star cast, many of whom are reprising fan favorite roles, American Horror Story: 13 continues to build on the anthology’s decades-long legacy that has been streamed more than 700 million hours around the globe and spawned a legion of dedicated fans.”
The new teaser trailer mainly features Twisty the Clown (who is played by John Carroll Lynch) but offers no scenes from Season 13, merely shots of cast members walking through a spooky location dressed in character. Returning franchise regulars include Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe and Leslie Grossman. Roberts is reprising her role of Madison Montgomery while Lange is back as Constance Langdon. The cast also includes Paul Anthony Kelly, Joey Pollari, Avantika, Elle Chapman, Berto Colon, Alex Consani, Frances Conroy, Mat Fraser, Seth Gabel, Orlando Jones, Tig Notaro, Madelaine Petsch, Fedor Steer, Zach Villa and John Waters.
