Amazon MGM Studios has released a new trailer for Verity, the upcoming psychological thriller based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling 2018 novel. The adaptation follows the successful theatrical releases of several other Hoover novels, including It Ends With Us, Reminders of Him and Regretting You.
Dakota Johnson stars as Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who is brought into the world of acclaimed author Verity Crawford, played by Anne Hathaway, while Josh Hartnett portrays Verity’s husband, Jeremy Crawford. The story begins when Lowen is hired to continue Verity’s successful book series after the author is left incapacitated following an accident. She moves into the Crawford family’s secluded estate to work on the unfinished novels, but soon discovers a hidden manuscript containing disturbing revelations about Verity, her marriage and her family. As Lowen investigates, her professional assignment becomes increasingly entangled with the Crawfords’ secrets and her growing attraction to Jeremy.
The trailer emphasizes the film’s mix of psychological suspense, erotic tension and horror, portraying Lowen as she becomes increasingly uncertain about what she can trust. The footage also teases a dangerous relationship between Lowen and Jeremy while Verity remains a looming presence inside the household, creating a shifting dynamic in which truth, deception and obsession become difficult to distinguish.
