Noah Wyle is returning to the emergency department as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch in Season 3 of HBO Max’s Emmy-winning medical drama “The Pitt.” The streamer released the first teaser , which offers a look at Robby’s return to Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center after taking a sabbatical following the events of Season 2. The new season is scheduled to premiere in January 2027.
The teaser picks up several months after Robby’s departure and follows his first shift back at the hospital. Dr. John Shen and Dr. Jack Abbot question whether Robby will actually return before he walks back into the emergency department. Katherine LaNasa’s Dana Evans also welcomes him back, while the footage previews another demanding series of medical emergencies and strained relationships among the staff.
Robby’s return comes after Season 2 ended with the physician stepping away amid struggles with burnout and his mental health. Wyle’s character acknowledges that coming back will not be easy, saying, “I knew my first day back was going to be hard, dealing with what we go through here. And, I knew that it could get a little bit crazy. But, it’s time to get back to it,” according to the teaser.
Wyle will be joined by returning cast members including Patrick Ball, Shawn Hatosy, Sepideh Moafi, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell, Shabana Azeez, Ayesha Harris and LaNasa. Season 3 also adds new cast members including Pruitt Taylor Vince, Malachi Beasley, Cheyenne Perez, Jeremy Radin, Charlz Williams and Rosanny Zayas.
