Netflix has released a new official trailer for Below, the Josh Hartnett-led thriller that arrives on the streaming service Oct. 8.
The six-episode limited series, created by Jesse McKeown, is set in the Newfoundland fishing community of Snook’s Arm and mixes creature horror with family drama and a story about a community confronting an uncertain future. The series also explores broader concerns facing the fictional community, including the loss of traditional livelihoods, displacement and environmental change.
Hartnett (who also serves as an executive producer) plays Calvin Penney, a fisherman whose troubled past includes the unresolved death of his father. When strange attacks begin affecting his small coastal town, Calvin works to protect his family and keep the community together. He joins forces with Fonda Howander, a visiting marine researcher played by Mackenzie Davis, as they attempt to understand the threat and uncover secrets connected to the area. Charlie Heaton plays Calvin’s son, Wade, while the ensemble also includes Ruby Stokes, Rohan Campbell, Kaleb Horn and Willow Kean.
