Amy Poehler is returning to a leading live-action television role with “Dig,” a new Peacock comedy from her longtime “Parks and Recreation” collaborator Michael Schur. The 10-episode series will premiere Nov. 23, with Peacock releasing a first look at the show as the streaming service begins promoting its fall lineup.

“Dig” follows a group of archaeologists and college students spending the summer at an excavation site in Greece. Poehler leads the ensemble alongside Hugh Laurie, with Geraldine Viswanathan, Antonia Thomas and Fina Strazza also starring. The story takes a turn when the group discovers a rare artifact, drawing them into an unexpected adventure involving secrets that could have international consequences.

The series is based on Kate Myers’ 2023 novel “Excavations.” Poehler and Schur co-wrote the pilot and serve as executive producers, while Schur is showrunner with his wife, J.J. Philbin. Other executive producers include Morgan Sackett, Dave Becky, David Miner, Sharon Jackson, Kate Arend and Jordan Grief. Universal Television produces the series.

“Dig” reunites Poehler and Schur more than a decade after “Parks and Recreation” concluded its seven-season run in 2015. Poehler played Leslie Knope on the NBC comedy, earning six Emmy nominations for the role, while Schur went on to create or co-create series including “The Good Place” and “A Man on the Inside.”

The new comedy also marks Poehler’s first live-action television leading role since “Parks and Recreation,” although she has remained active through producing, voice work, hosting and her “Good Hang” podcast.
